Terrible company! Poor service, unprofessional and uninformed staff. Uses gestapo tactics to force customers to stay with them. They should be shut down. If the FTC conducted a proper investigation they would know that this company violates almost every rule in business ethics and consumer protection.

I\'ve been hosting sites with iPower for 3-4 years and the service level has declined significantly to the extent that is has affected my business with my customers. I\'ve begun moving sites from iPowerweb to a couple of new and different hosts.

Scammed by iPower

I signed up with iPower becuaswe I had expereinced some problems with Tripod in the past. However iPower turned out to be a bigger mistake that my ex-husband! I tried several times to cancel my account with iPower and the requests were ignored. iPower charged my credit card without my approval, in fact against my cancellation request. I called customer service and was told that my accounts would be cancelled and no further charges would appear on my account. Refunds were not possible for the transactions that were already processed. Next, iPower rushed through 4 other renewals charging my account within hours of my speking to a representative! I spoke to a billing supervisor who told me that cancellation requests in writing are not honored (!), my money would not be refunded and they had the right to process my renewals ahead of the renewal date! No apologies even though she admitted that they cheated me out of my money! I ended up disputing the charges, cancelling my credit card and filing a complaint with the FTC and the State of Md (my residnece). Stay away from iPower they will steal from you, admit it and continue about their business.

Althought their uptime has been reliable, iPowerWeb has some major security issues. One of my websites had a malicious code added to the index page in March 2007, and another site had 2,500 explicit html files placed in one of its directories in October. The first time it happened, iPowerWeb sent the typical form response to change passwords. The second time it happened, iPowerWeb did nothing to resolve the problem, so I can only assume they have a rogue employee regularly messing with their clients\' websites. Also, iPowerWeb has had all kinds of problems with two of my domain forwarding services. They would tell me the domains were expiring when they weren\'t, and when they did expire, they didn\'t tell me. Trying to manage those domains has been a nightmare.

I have had a VPS with I-Power for about 18 months. In that time I have had an alleged server crash (the server was allegedly rebuilt and it crashed again a week later), I have had dozens of periods of downtime in excess of 12 hours; and I have had my account suspended and the hard drive erased because a customer sends out 1000 permission-based newsletters to his customers each month. When you transfer domain names to I-power, they change the nameservers. These people don\\\'t have a clue how to run a hosting company.

I used Ipowerweb with 6+ sites including E-Commerce for years. They had previous growing pains (which company has not) and I feel they have gotten a bad rap which may have been deserved but is no longer. They have cleaned up their problems for the most part and while customer service remains fair other companies I have used are no better. I truly believe that the ones that knock them are loyal against them and the ones that like them are loyal users (like me) who have no trouble. Maybe it is because I am computer literate and need little assistance! I recommend them while I again know others will disagree.

These guys continue playing unfair games. I've been with them for 2 years. By the end of April 2006 I've notified them that I completely cancel their service. In two weeks I've received a message to confirm cancellation and I've done it immediately. However they charged me again for the next year of service. I had plenty of problems with their so called "technical support" before. They support themselves but not customers. So I've left iPowerWeb completely and forever. I just would like to warn everyone - NEVER DEAL WITH THEM!
